ततो विजित्य सङ्ग्रामे कुरून्गोवृषभेक्षणः। समानयामास तदा विराटस्य धनं महत् ॥०४-६२-१॥
tato vijitya saṅgrāme kurūn govṛṣabhekṣaṇaḥ. samānayāmāsa tadā virāṭasya dhanaṃ mahat ॥04-62-1॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - thereafter; विजित्य (vijitya) - having conquered; सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in battle; कुरून् (kurūn) - the Kurus; गोवृषभेक्षणः (govṛṣabhekṣaṇaḥ) - the one with eyes like a bull (Arjuna); समानयामास (samānayāmāsa) - he brought back together; तदा (tadā) - then; विराटस्य (virāṭasya) - of Virāṭa; धनम् (dhanam) - treasure; wealth; महत् (mahat) - great;]
(Thereafter, having conquered in battle the Kurus, the one with eyes like a bull brought back then the great treasure of Virāṭa.)
Afterwards, having defeated the Kurus in battle, Arjuna (the bull-eyed one) brought back the great wealth of Virāṭa. (04-62-1)
गतेषु च प्रभग्नेषु धार्तराष्ट्रेषु सर्वशः। वनान्निष्क्रम्य गहनाद्बहवः कुरुसैनिकाः ॥०४-६२-२॥
gateṣu ca prabhagneṣu dhārtarāṣṭreṣu sarvaśaḥ। vanān niṣkramya gahanād bahavaḥ kurusainikāḥ ॥04-62-2॥
[गतेषु (gateṣu) - having gone; (in reference to those who have departed); च (ca) - and; प्रभग्नेषु (prabhagneṣu) - having been scattered; having been routed; धार्तराष्ट्रेषु (dhārtarāṣṭreṣu) - among the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; (Dhārtarāṣṭra=Kauravas); सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - entirely; in every way; वनात् (vanāt) - from the forest; निष्क्रम्य (niṣkramya) - having come out; after having emerged; गहनात् (gahanāt) - from the thicket; from the dense place; बहवः (bahavaḥ) - many; कुरुसैनिकाः (kurusainikāḥ) - Kuru soldiers; (the soldiers of the Kurus);]
(Having gone and (after) being routed among the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra entirely, many Kuru soldiers, having come out from the forest, from the thicket;)
When the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra had departed and were scattered in every way, many Kuru soldiers came out from the dense forest. (04-62-2)
भयात्सन्त्रस्तमनसः समाजग्मुस्ततस्ततः। मुक्तकेशा व्यदृश्यन्त स्थिताः प्राञ्जलयस्तदा ॥०४-६२-३॥
bhayāt santrasta-manasāḥ samājagmuḥ tataḥ tataḥ। mukta-keśā vyadṛśyanta sthitāḥ prāñjalayaḥ tadā॥04-62-3॥
[भयात् (bhayāt) - from fear; सन्त्रस्तमनसः (santrasta-manasāḥ) - with terrified minds; समाजग्मुः (samājagmuḥ) - they came together; ततः ततः (tataḥ tataḥ) - from here and there; मुक्तकेशाः (mukta-keśāḥ) - with hair loosened; व्यदृश्यन्त (vyadṛśyanta) - were seen; स्थिताः (sthitāḥ) - standing; प्राञ्जलयः (prāñjalayaḥ) - with joined palms; तदा (tadā) - at that time;]
(From fear, with terrified minds, they came together from here and there. With loosened hair, they were seen standing with joined palms at that time.)

क्षुत्पिपासापरिश्रान्ता विदेशस्था विचेतसः। ऊचुः प्रणम्य सम्भ्रान्ताः पार्थ किं करवाम ते ॥०४-६२-४॥
kṣutpipāsāpariśrāntā videśasthā vicetasaḥ। ūcuḥ praṇamya sambhrāntāḥ pārtha kiṃ karavāma te॥04-62-4॥
[क्षुत्पिपासा-पарिश्रान्ताः (kṣutpipāsā-pariśrāntāḥ) - worn out by hunger and thirst; विदेश-स्था (videśa-sthāḥ) - dwelling in a foreign land; विचेतसः (vicetasaḥ) - distressed; ऊचुः (ūcuḥ) - they said; प्रणम्य (praṇamya) - having bowed; सम्भ्रान्ताः (sambhrāntāḥ) - confused; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; किम् (kim) - what; करवाम (karavāma) - shall we do; ते (te) - for you;]
(Worn out by hunger and thirst, dwelling in a foreign land, distressed, they said, having bowed, confused, O Pārtha, what shall we do for you? (04-62-4))
Exhausted by hunger and thirst, residing in a foreign land and distressed, they respectfully bowed and confusedly said, "O Pārtha, what shall we do for you?" (04-62-4)
अर्जुन उवाच॥

स्वस्ति व्रजत भद्रं वो न भेतव्यं कथञ्चन। नाहमार्ताञ्जिघांसामि भृशमाश्वासयामि वः ॥०४-६२-५॥
svasti vrajata bhadraṃ vo na bhetavyaṃ kathaṃcana। nāham ārtāñ jighāṃsāmi bhṛśam āśvāsayāmi vaḥ॥04-62-5॥
[स्वस्ति (svasti) - welfare; व्रजत (vrajata) - you go; भद्रं (bhadraṃ) - good; वः (vaḥ) - to you; न (na) - not; भेतव्यम् (bhetavyam) - to be feared; कथञ्चन (kathaṃcana) - in any way; न (na) - not; अहम् (aham) - I; आर्तान् (ārtān) - the afflicted; जिघांसामि (jighāṃsāmi) - intend to harm; भृशम् (bhṛśam) - greatly; आश्वासयामि (āśvāsayāmi) - I comfort; वः (vaḥ) - you;]
(Welfare! You go, good to you. Not to be feared in any way. I do not intend to harm the afflicted; greatly I comfort you.)
Go with welfare, may good be to you—there is nothing to fear in any way. I do not intend to harm the afflicted; I greatly comfort you. (04-62-5)

tasya tām abhayām vācaṃ śrutvā yodhāḥ samāgatāḥ। āyuḥ-kīrti-yaśo-dābhis tam āśīr-bhir anandayān॥ 04-62-6॥
[तस्य (tasya) - of him; ताम् (tām) - that; अभयाम् (abhayām) - fearless; वाचम् (vācam) - speech; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; योधाः (yodhāḥ) - warriors; समागताः (samāgatāḥ) - assembled; आयुःकीर्तियशोदाभिः (āyuḥ-kīrti-yaśo-dābhiḥ) - with (those) who grant longevity, fame, and glory; तम् (tam) - him; आशीर्भिः (āśīrbhiḥ) - with blessings; अनन्दयन् (anandayān) - they delighted;]
(Of him that fearless speech having heard, warriors assembled; with blessings granting longevity, fame, and glory, him with blessings they delighted.)
Hearing his fearless speech, the assembled warriors delighted him with blessings that granted longevity, fame, and glory. (04-62-6)
ततो निवृत्ताः कुरवः प्रभग्ना वशमास्थिताः। पन्थानमुपसङ्गम्य फल्गुनो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥०४-६२-७॥
tato nivṛttāḥ kuravaḥ prabhagnā vaśamāsthitāḥ। panthānam upasaṅgamya phalguno vākyam abravīt ॥04-62-7॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - thereupon; निवृत्ताः (nivṛttāḥ) - withdrawn; कुरवः (kuravaḥ) - the Kurus; प्रभग्नाः (prabhagnāḥ) - utterly shattered; वशम् (vaśam) - control; आस्थिताः (āsthitāḥ) - entered; पन्थानम् (panthānam) - the path; उपसङ्गम्य (upasaṅgamya) - having approached; फल्गुनः (phalgunaḥ) - Phalguna (Arjuna); वाक्यम् (vākyam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said;]
(Thereupon withdrawn the Kurus utterly shattered control having entered the path having approached Phalguna speech said.)
Thereupon, the Kurus, having withdrawn and being utterly shattered and brought under control, entered the path; Phalguna (Arjuna), having approached, spoke these words. (04-62-7)
राजपुत्र प्रत्यवेक्ष समानीतानि सर्वशः। गोकुलानि महाबाहो वीर गोपालकैः सह ॥०४-६२-८॥
rājaputra pratyavekṣa samānītāni sarvaśaḥ। gokulāni mahābāho vīra gopālakaiḥ saha ॥04-62-8॥
[राजपुत्र (rājaputra) - prince; प्रत्यवेक्ष (pratyavekṣa) - inspect; समानीतानि (samānītāni) - assembled; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - entirely; गोकुलानि (gokulāni) - herds of cows; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; वीर (vīra) - O hero; गोपालकैः (gopālakaiḥ) - with cowherds; सह (saha) - together with;]
(Prince, inspect the herds of cows entirely which have been assembled, O mighty-armed, O hero, together with the cowherds.)
O prince, O mighty-armed hero, inspect all the assembled herds of cows together with the cowherds. (04-62-8)
ततोऽपराह्णे यास्यामो विराटनगरं प्रति। आश्वास्य पाययित्वा च परिप्लाव्य च वाजिनः ॥०४-६२-९॥
tato'parāhṇe yāsyāmo virāṭanagaraṃ prati. āśvāsya pāyayitvā ca pariplāvya ca vājinaḥ ॥04-62-9॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; अपराह्णे (aparāhṇe) - in the afternoon; यास्यामः (yāsyāmaḥ) - we shall go; विराटनगरं (virāṭanagaraṃ) - Viraṭa-city; प्रति (prati) - towards; आश्वास्य (āśvāsya) - having refreshed; पाययित्वा (pāyayitvā) - having given to drink; च (ca) - and; परिप्लाव्य (pariplāvya) - having bathed; च (ca) - and; वाजिनः (vājinaḥ) - the horses;]
(Then in the afternoon we shall go towards Viraṭa-city, having refreshed, given to drink, and bathed the horses.)
Then, in the afternoon, we shall proceed to the city of Virāṭa, having refreshed, watered, and bathed the horses. (04-62-9)
गच्छन्तु त्वरिताश्चैव गोपालाः प्रेषितास्त्वया। नगरे प्रियमाख्यातुं घोषयन्तु च ते जयम् ॥०४-६२-१०॥
gacchantu tvaritāś caiva gopālāḥ preṣitās tvayā। nagare priyam ākhyātuṃ ghoṣayantu ca te jayam ॥04-62-10॥
[गच्छन्तु (gacchantu) - let them go; त्वरिताः (tvaritāḥ) - swift ones; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; गोपालाः (gopālāḥ) - herdsmen; प्रेषिताः (preṣitāḥ) - sent; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; नगरे (nagare) - in the city; प्रियम् (priyam) - dear news; आख्यातुम् (ākhyātum) - to announce; घोषयन्तु (ghoṣayantu) - let them proclaim; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - your; जयम् (jayam) - victory;]
(Let the swift herdsmen, indeed, who are sent by you, go; in the city, to announce the dear news, let them also proclaim your victory.)
Let the swift herdsmen you have sent go; in the city let them announce the good news and proclaim your victory. (04-62-10)

uttaraḥ tvaramāṇaḥ atha dūtān ājñāpayat tataḥ। vacanāt arjunasya eva ācakṣadhvam jayam mama ॥04-62-11॥
[उत्तरः (uttaraḥ) - Uttara (a proper noun, the prince); त्वरमाणः (tvaramāṇaḥ) - hastening; अथ (atha) - then; दूतान् (dūtān) - the messengers; आज्ञापयत् (ājñāpayat) - ordered; ततः (tataḥ) - then; वचनात् (vacanāt) - by the word; अर्जुनस्यैव (arjunasya eva) - of Arjuna only; आचक्षध्वम् (ācakṣadhvam) - declare; जयं (jayam) - victory; मम (mama) - my;]
(Uttara, hastening, then, ordered the messengers then: "By the very word of Arjuna declare my victory.")
Uttara, quickly, then ordered the messengers: "Report my victory just as Arjuna said." (04-62-11)
