Dhritarashtra spoke:
The Pāṇḍavas, known for their valor and desire for victory, have warriors who are equally committed and ready to sacrifice themselves for success.
You alone have mentioned those whom I have conquered: the Panchalas, Kekayas, Matsyas, Magadhas, and the kings of Vatsa.
Krishna, who is powerful and desires to bring these worlds, including Indra, under control, is the best in the world and is engaged in ensuring the victory of the Pandavas.
Satyaki swiftly acquired all the skills from Arjuna. In the battlefield, Satyaki stood firm, shooting arrows as if sowing seeds.
Dhṛṣṭadyumna, the son of Pāñcāla, renowned for his cruel deeds and as a great chariot-warrior, is the one who will lead the battle among my people and is skilled in supreme weaponry among the forces.
O father, fear arises in me due to the anger of Yudhishthira, the prowess of Arjuna, the two Yamas, and Bhimasena.
A superhuman net spread by the lords of men will destroy my army in between; then I lament, O Sanjaya.
The son of Pandu is handsome, intelligent, prosperous, radiant with spiritual luster, wise, aware of good deeds, and righteous.
He is well-supported by friendly ministers, capable organizers, brothers, fathers-in-law, sons, and great charioteers.
The son of Pandu, known as the tiger among men, embodies firmness and humility. He is kind, generous, modest, and truly valiant.
He is well-versed in scriptures, self-disciplined, serves the elders, and has control over his senses. He is endowed with all virtues and is like a blazing fire.
Who would be so foolish as to rush into the unstoppable fire of the Pāṇḍavas, like a moth to a flame, desiring death with a deluded mind?
The tall and slender king with a crest, who shines like pure gold, will bring about the end of my slow-witted sons through battle.
I believe that non-fighting is good for them. Understand this, O Kurus, that in battle, the destruction of the entire family is certain.
This is my supreme peace that calms my mind. However, if you desire war, we will strive for peace.
Yudhishthira should not ignore us who are in the process of learning. He despises me solely due to the reason of unrighteousness.
