स सम्प्रहारस्तुमुलो द्रोणसात्वतयोरभूत्। पश्यतां सर्वसैन्यानां बलिवासवयोरिव ॥७-९३-२॥

ततो द्रोणः शिनेः पौत्रं चित्रैः सर्वायसैः शरैः। त्रिभिराशीविषाकारैर्ललाटे समविध्यत ॥७-९३-३॥

पुनः पञ्चाशतेषूणां शतेन च समार्पयत्। लघुतां युयुधानस्य लाघवेन विशेषयन् ॥७-९३-८॥

समुत्पतन्ति वल्मीकाद्यथा क्रुद्धा महोरगाः। तथा द्रोणरथाद्राजन्नुत्पतन्ति तनुच्छिदः ॥७-९३-९॥
samutpatanti valmīkādyathā kruddhā mahoragāḥ। tathā droṇarathādrājannutpatanti tanucchidaḥ ॥7-93-9॥

(As angry great serpents arise from an anthill, so do the body-cutting arrows arise from Drona's chariot, O king.)
O king, just as angry serpents emerge from an anthill, so do the deadly arrows fly from Drona's chariot.
तथैव युयुधानेन सृष्टाः शतसहस्रशः। अवाकिरन्द्रोणरथं शरा रुधिरभोजनाः ॥७-९३-१०॥
tathaiva yuyudhānena sṛṣṭāḥ śatasahasraśaḥ। avākirandroṇarathaṃ śarā rudhirabhojanāḥ ॥7-93-10॥

लाघवाद्द्विजमुख्यस्य सात्वतस्य च मारिष। विशेषं नाध्यगच्छाम समावास्तां नरर्षभौ ॥७-९३-११॥
lāghavāddvijamukhyasya sātvatasya ca māriṣa। viśeṣaṃ nādhyagacchāma samāvāstāṃ nararṣabhau ॥7-93-11॥

(Having seen the lightness of Yuyudhana, Drona, the great chariot-warrior, pierced Satyaki with seventy (arrows) and the horses with three each. He pierced the flag situated on Madhava's chariot with one (arrow).)

अथापरेण भल्लेन हेमपुङ्खेन पत्रिणा। धनुश्चिच्छेद समरे माधवस्य महात्मनः ॥७-९३-१४॥

(Droṇa suddenly restrained her, who was approaching armored and iron-like, with many varied forms of arrows.)
Droṇa swiftly stopped her advance, who was heavily armored and appeared formidable, using numerous types of arrows.
अथान्यद्धनुरादाय सात्यकिः सत्यविक्रमः। विव्याध बहुभिर्वीरं भारद्वाजं शिलाशितैः ॥७-९३-१७॥
athānyaddhanurādāya sātyakiḥ satyavikramaḥ। vivyādha bahubhirvīraṃ bhāradvājaṃ śilāśitaiḥ ॥7-93-17॥

(Then, taking another bow, Satyaki, of true valor, pierced the hero Bharadvaja with many stone-sharpened arrows.)

स विद्ध्वा समरे द्रोणं सिंहनादममुञ्चत। तं वै न ममृषे द्रोणः सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरः ॥७-९३-१८॥
sa viddhvā samare droṇaṃ siṃhanādamamuñcata। taṃ vai na mamṛṣe droṇaḥ sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ ॥7-93-18॥

(He, having pierced Droṇa in battle, released a lion's roar. Droṇa, the best of all weapon bearers, indeed did not tolerate that.)

तथः शक्तिं गृहीत्वा तु रुक्मदण्डामयस्मयीम्। तरसा प्रेषयामास माधवस्य रथं प्रति ॥७-९३-१९॥
tathaḥ śaktiṃ gṛhītvā tu rukmadaṇḍāmayasmyīm। tarasā preṣayāmāsa mādhavasya rathaṃ prati ॥7-93-19॥

(Then, having taken the spear with a golden shaft, he swiftly dispatched it towards the chariot of Mādhava.)

(But not reaching Śaineya, that spear, black resembling, piercing the chariot, went fierce to the earth with a terrible sound.)
The spear, dark as death, missed Śaineya, pierced through the chariot, and struck the earth with a dreadful noise.
ततो द्रोणं शिनेः पौत्रो राजन्विव्याध पत्रिणा। दक्षिणं भुजमासाद्य पीडयन्भरतर्षभ ॥७-९३-२१॥
