Pancharatra: King Yudhiṣṭhira, the king of dharma, approached Lord Krishna and started to praise; the Blessed Lord did not say anything, but entered into meditation.

प्राप्य राज्यं महातेजा धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः। यदन्यदकरोद्विप्र तन्मे वक्तुमिहार्हसि ॥१२-४५-१॥
prāpya rājyaṃ mahātejā dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। yadanyadakarodvipra tanme vaktumihārhasi ॥12-45-1॥

(Having obtained the kingdom, the great-energied king of dharma, Yudhishthira, whatever else he did, O brāhmaṇa, that to me here you ought to tell.)
O brāhmaṇa, after Yudhishthira, the great-energied king of dharma, obtained the kingdom, please tell me here whatever else he did.
भगवान्वा हृषीकेशस्त्रैलोक्यस्य परो गुरुः। ऋषे यदकरोद्वीरस्तच्च व्याख्यातुमर्हसि ॥१२-४५-२॥
bhagavān vā hṛṣīkeśaḥ trailokyasya paro guruḥ। ṛṣe yad akarod vīraḥ tac ca vyākhyātum arhasi ॥12-45-2॥

(The Lord indeed, Hṛṣīkeśa, the supreme teacher of the three worlds. O sage, what the hero did, that also you ought to explain.)

śṛṇu rājendra tattvena kīrtyamānaṃ mayānagha। vāsudevaṃ puraskṛtya yadakurvata pāṇḍavāḥ ॥12-45-3॥

(Hear, O king, in truth, what is being narrated by me, O sinless one: having placed Vāsudeva in front, what the Pāṇḍavas did.)
O King, listen truly to what I narrate, O sinless one: what the Pāṇḍavas did, having Vāsudeva at the forefront.
प्राप्य राज्यं महातेजा धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः। चातुर्वर्ण्यं यथायोगं स्वे स्वे धर्मे न्यवेशयत् ॥१२-४५-४॥

(Having obtained the kingdom, the great-splendor king of dharma, Yudhishthira, established the fourfold order in their own respective duties according to fitness.)
Having attained the kingdom, the illustrious king Yudhishthira, the king of dharma, organized the fourfold social order, assigning each to their proper duties according to their fitness.
ब्राह्मणानां सहस्रं च स्नातकानां महात्मनाम्। सहस्रनिष्कमेकैकं वाचयामास पाण्डवः ॥१२-४५-५॥
brāhmaṇānāṃ sahasraṃ ca snātakānāṃ mahātmanām। sahasraniṣkamekaikaṃ vācayāmāsa pāṇḍavaḥ ॥12-45-5॥
[ब्राह्मणानाम् (brāhmaṇānām) - of the Brāhmaṇas; सहस्रम् (sahasram) - a thousand; च (ca) - and; स्नातकानाम् (snātakānām) - of the graduates (from Vedic study); महात्मनाम् (mahātmanām) - of the great-souled; सहस्रनिष्कम् (sahasraniṣkam) - with a thousand niṣkas (gold coins); एकैकम् (ekaikam) - each one; वाचयामास (vācayāmāsa) - caused to recite; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the Pāṇḍava;]
(Of the Brāhmaṇas, a thousand and of the graduates, the great-souled, with a thousand niṣkas each, caused to recite the Pāṇḍava.)
The Pāṇḍava caused a thousand Brāhmaṇas and great-souled graduates, each with a thousand gold coins, to recite (the Vedas or texts).
तथानुजीविनो भृत्यान्संश्रितानतिथीनपि। कामैः सन्तर्पयामास कृपणांस्तर्ककानपि ॥१२-४५-६॥
tathānujīvino bhṛtyān saṃśritān atithīn api। kāmaiḥ santarpayāmāsa kṛpaṇān tarkakān api॥12-45-6॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; in that manner; अनुजीविनः (anujīvinaḥ) - dependents; followers; भृत्यान् (bhṛtyān) - servants; संश्रितान् (saṃśritān) - those who have taken refuge; अतिथीन् (atithīn) - guests; अपि (api) - also; कामैः (kāmaiḥ) - with desires; with objects of desire; सन्तर्पयामास (santarpayāmāsa) - he satisfied; he gratified; कृपणान् (kṛpaṇān) - the poor; the pitiable; तर्ककान् (tarkakān) - logicians; debaters; अपि (api) - also;]
(Thus, he satisfied dependents, servants, those who had taken refuge, and guests also with objects of desire; he also gratified the poor and logicians.)
In this way, he fulfilled the desires of his dependents, servants, those who sought refuge, and guests, as well as the poor and even the logicians.
पुरोहिताय धौम्याय प्रादादयुतशः स गाः। धनं सुवर्णं रजतं वासांसि विविधानि च ॥१२-४५-७॥
purohitāya dhaumyāya prādādayutaśaḥ sa gāḥ। dhanaṃ suvarṇaṃ rajataṃ vāsāṃsi vividhāni ca ॥12-45-7॥
[पुरोहिताय (purohitāya) - to the priest; (for) purohita; धौम्याय (dhaumyāya) - to Dhaumya; (for) Dhaumya; प्रादात् (prādāt) - gave; (he) gave; अयुतशः (ayutaśaḥ) - by tens of thousands; in tens of thousands; सः (saḥ) - he; गाः (gāḥ) - cows; धनम् (dhanam) - wealth; सुवर्णम् (suvarṇam) - gold; रजतम् (rajatam) - silver; वासांसि (vāsāṃsi) - garments; विविधानि (vividhāni) - various; च (ca) - and;]
(To the priest Dhaumya, he gave cows by tens of thousands, wealth, gold, silver, and various garments.)

कृपाय च महाराज गुरुवृत्तिमवर्तत। विदुराय च धर्मात्मा पूजां चक्रे यतव्रतः ॥१२-४५-८॥
kṛpāya ca mahārāja guruvṛttim avartata। vidurāya ca dharmātmā pūjāṃ cakre yatavrataḥ ॥12-45-8॥
[कृपाय (kṛpāya) - to Kṛpa; (name of sage); च (ca) - and; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; गुरुवृत्तिम् (guruvṛttim) - the conduct of a disciple toward the teacher; अवर्तत (avartata) - he performed; विदुराय (vidurāya) - to Vidura; च (ca) - and; धर्मात्मा (dharmātmā) - the righteous one; पूजां (pūjāṃ) - worship; चक्रे (cakre) - he performed; यतव्रतः (yatavrataḥ) - one who is firm in vows;]
(To Kṛpa and, O great king, he performed the conduct of a disciple toward the teacher. To Vidura also, the righteous one, he performed worship, being firm in vows.)
He behaved toward Kṛpa as a disciple should toward his teacher, O great king. To Vidura, the righteous one, he offered worship, being steadfast in his vows.
भक्षान्नपानैर्विविधैर्वासोभिः शयनासनैः। सर्वान्सन्तोषयामास संश्रितान्ददतां वरः ॥१२-४५-९॥
bhakṣānnapānairvividhairvāsobhiḥ śayanāsanaiḥ। sarvānsantoṣayāmāsa saṃśritāndadatāṃ varaḥ ॥12-45-9॥
[भक्ष (bhakṣa) - food; अन्न (anna) - rice; पानैः (pānaiḥ) - with drinks; विविधैः (vividhaiḥ) - of various kinds; वासोभिः (vāsobhiḥ) - with garments; शयनासनैः (śayanāsanaiḥ) - with beds and seats; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; सन्तोषयामास (santoṣayāmāsa) - satisfied; संश्रितान् (saṃśritān) - those who had taken refuge; ददतां (dadatām) - of the givers; वरः (varaḥ) - the best;]
(With food, rice, drinks of various kinds, garments, beds and seats, he satisfied all those who had taken refuge, the best among givers.)
He, the best among givers, satisfied all those who had taken refuge with various kinds of food, rice, drinks, garments, beds, and seats.
लब्धप्रशमनं कृत्वा स राजा राजसत्तम। युयुत्सोर्धार्तराष्ट्रस्य पूजां चक्रे महायशाः ॥१२-४५-१०॥
labdhapraśamanaṃ kṛtvā sa rājā rājasattama। yuyutsordhārtarāṣṭrasya pūjāṃ cakre mahāyaśāḥ ॥12-45-10॥
[लब्ध (labdha) - obtained; प्रशमनं (praśamanam) - appeasement; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; स (sa) - he; राजा (rājā) - king; राजसत्तम (rājasattama) - best among kings; युयुत्सोः (yuyutsor) - of Yuyutsu; धार्तराष्ट्रस्य (dhārtarāṣṭrasya) - of Dhritarashtra's son; पूजां (pūjām) - honor; चक्रे (cakre) - performed; महायशाः (mahāyaśāḥ) - of great fame;]
(Having obtained appeasement, he, the king, best among kings, performed the honor of Yuyutsu, son of Dhritarashtra, the greatly renowned.)
Having pacified the situation, that king, the best among kings, the greatly renowned, honored Yuyutsu, the son of Dhritarashtra.
धृतराष्ट्राय तद्राज्यं गान्धार्यै विदुराय च। निवेद्य स्वस्थवद्राजन्नास्ते राजा युधिष्ठिरः ॥१२-४५-११॥
dhṛtarāṣṭrāya tadrājyaṃ gāndhāryai vidurāya ca। nivedya svasthavad rājann āste rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ॥12-45-11॥
[धृतराष्ट्राय (dhṛtarāṣṭrāya) - to Dhṛtarāṣṭra; तत् (tat) - that; राज्यम् (rājyaṃ) - kingdom; गान्धार्यै (gāndhāryai) - to Gāndhārī; विदुराय (vidurāya) - to Vidura; च (ca) - and; निवेद्य (nivedya) - having informed; स्वस्थवत् (svasthavat) - as one at ease; राजन् (rājan) - O king; आस्ते (āste) - remains; राजा (rājā) - the king; युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhiṣṭhira;]
(To Dhṛtarāṣṭra, that kingdom, to Gāndhārī, to Vidura and, having informed, as one at ease, O king, remains the king Yudhiṣṭhira.)
King Yudhiṣṭhira, having informed Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Gāndhārī, and Vidura about the kingdom, now remains at ease, O king.
तथा सर्वं स नगरं प्रसाद्य जनमेजय। वासुदेवं महात्मानमभ्यगच्छत्कृताञ्जलिः ॥१२-४५-१२॥
tathā sarvaṃ sa nagaraṃ prasādya janamejaya। vāsudevaṃ mahātmānam abhyagacchat kṛtāñjaliḥ ॥12-45-12॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; सर्वं (sarvam) - all; स (sa) - he; नगरं (nagaraṃ) - city; प्रसाद्य (prasādya) - having pleased; जनमेजय (janamejaya) - Janamejaya; वासुदेवं (vāsudevaṃ) - Vasudeva; महात्मानम् (mahātmānam) - the great-souled; अभ्यगच्छत् (abhyagacchat) - approached; कृताञ्जलिः (kṛtāñjaliḥ) - with joined palms;]
(Thus, having pleased all the city, Janamejaya approached Vasudeva, the great-souled, with joined palms.)
Thus, after winning over the entire city, Janamejaya approached the great-souled Vasudeva with joined palms.
ततो महति पर्यङ्के मणिकाञ्चनभूषिते। ददर्श कृष्णमासीनं नीलं मेराविवाम्बुदम् ॥१२-४५-१३॥
tato mahati paryaṅke maṇikāñcanabhūṣite। dadarśa kṛṣṇam āsīnaṃ nīlaṃ merāv ivāmbudam ॥12-45-13॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; महति (mahati) - great; पर्यङ्के (paryaṅke) - on the couch; मणि (maṇi) - jewel; काञ्चन (kāñcana) - gold; भूषिते (bhūṣite) - adorned; ददर्श (dadarśa) - he saw; कृष्णम् (kṛṣṇam) - Kṛṣṇa; आसीनम् (āsīnam) - seated; नीलम् (nīlam) - dark; मेरोः (meroḥ) - of Meru; इव (iva) - like; अम्बुदम् (ambudam) - cloud;]
(Then, on the great couch adorned with jewels and gold, he saw Kṛṣṇa seated, dark like a cloud of Meru.)
Then, on the magnificent couch decorated with jewels and gold, he saw Kṛṣṇa sitting, dark as a cloud on Mount Meru.
जाज्वल्यमानं वपुषा दिव्याभरणभूषितम्। पीतकौशेयसंवीतं हेम्नीवोपहितं मणिम् ॥१२-४५-१४॥
jājvalyamānaṃ vapuṣā divyābharaṇabhūṣitam। pītakauśeyasaṃvītaṃ hemnīvopahitaṃ maṇim ॥12-45-14॥

कौस्तुभेन उरःस्थेन मणिनाभिविराजितम्। उद्यतेवोदयं शैलं सूर्येणाप्तकिरीटिनम् ॥ नौपम्यं विद्यते यस्य त्रिषु लोकेषु किञ्चन ॥१२-४५-१५॥
kaustubhena uraḥsthena maṇinābhivirājitam। udyatevodayaṃ śailaṃ sūryeṇāptakirīṭinam ॥ naupamyaṃ vidyate yasya triṣu lokeṣu kiñcana ॥12-45-15॥

(Splendidly adorned by the Kaustubha jewel situated on the chest, as if a mountain at sunrise crowned by the sun. Of whom there exists no comparison in the three worlds whatsoever.)
Adorned with the Kaustubha gem on his chest, shining like a mountain at sunrise crowned by the sun, there is nothing in the three worlds that can compare to him.
सोऽभिगम्य महात्मानं विष्णुं पुरुषविग्रहम्। उवाच मधुराभाषः स्मितपूर्वमिदं तदा ॥१२-४५-१६॥
so'bhigamya mahātmānaṃ viṣṇuṃ puruṣavigraham। uvāca madhurābhāṣaḥ smitapūrvam idaṃ tadā ॥12-45-16॥

(He, having approached the great-souled Viṣṇu, who has the form of a person, said this with sweet speech, preceded by a smile, then.)

सुखेन ते निशा कच्चिद्व्युष्टा बुद्धिमतां वर। कच्चिज्ज्ञानानि सर्वाणि प्रसन्नानि तवाच्युत ॥१२-४५-१७॥
sukhena te niśā kaccid vyuṣṭā buddhimatāṃ vara। kaccij jñānāni sarvāṇi prasannāni tavācyuta ॥12-45-17॥

(With happiness your night whether passed, O best of the wise; whether all knowledges clear your, O Acyuta.)
O Acyuta, best of the wise, did your night pass happily? Are all your thoughts clear?
तव ह्याश्रित्य तां देवीं बुद्धिं बुद्धिमतां वर। वयं राज्यमनुप्राप्ताः पृथिवी च वशे स्थिता ॥१२-४५-१८॥
tava hy āśritya tāṃ devīṃ buddhiṃ buddhimatāṃ vara। vayaṃ rājyam anuprāptāḥ pṛthivī ca vaśe sthitā ॥12-45-18॥
[तव (tava) - of you; हि (hi) - indeed; आश्रित्य (āśritya) - having resorted to; ताम् (tām) - that; देवीम् (devīm) - goddess; बुद्धिम् (buddhim) - intellect; बुद्धिमताम् (buddhimatām) - of the wise; वर (vara) - best; वयम् (vayam) - we; राज्यम् (rājyam) - kingdom; अनुप्राप्ताः (anuprāptāḥ) - have obtained; पृथिवी (pṛthivī) - earth; च (ca) - and; वशे (vaśe) - under control; स्थिताः (sthitāḥ) - remains;]
(Of you indeed, having resorted to that goddess intellect, O best of the wise, we have obtained the kingdom and the earth remains under control.)
O best among the wise, by resorting to that divine intellect of yours, we have obtained the kingdom and the earth remains under our control.
भवत्प्रसादाद्भगवंस्त्रिलोकगतिविक्रम। जयः प्राप्तो यशश्चाग्र्यं न च धर्माच्च्युता वयम् ॥१२-४५-१९॥
bhavatprasādādbhagavaṃstrilokagativikrama। jayaḥ prāpto yaśaścāgryaṃ na ca dharmāccyutā vayam ॥12-45-19॥
[भवत् (bhavat) - from you; (vocative, O Lord;) प्रसादात् (prasādāt) - by grace; (ablative;) भगवन् (bhagavan) - O revered one; त्रिलोक (triloka) - three worlds; गति (gati) - movement; course; विक्रम (vikrama) - stride; prowess; जयः (jayaḥ) - victory; प्राप्तः (prāptaḥ) - attained; यशः (yaśaḥ) - fame; च (ca) - and; आग्र्यम् (āgryam) - supreme; foremost; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; धर्मात् (dharmāt) - from dharma; (righteousness;) च्युताः (cyutāḥ) - fallen; removed; वयम् (vayam) - we;]
(O revered one, by your grace, victory, movement through the three worlds, and supreme fame have been attained, and we have not fallen from dharma.)
O Lord, by your grace, we have attained victory, traversed the three worlds with prowess, and gained supreme fame, nor have we deviated from righteousness.
तं तथा भाषमाणं तु धर्मराजं युधिष्ठिरम्। नोवाच भगवान्किञ्चिद्ध्यानमेवान्वपद्यत ॥१२-४५-२०॥
taṃ tathā bhāṣamāṇaṃ tu dharmarājaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram। novāca bhagavān kiñcid dhyānam evānvapadyata ॥12-45-20॥
