kathayitvā tu tatsarvaṃ brāhmaṇebhyaḥ sa bhārata । prayayau himavatpārśvaṃ tato vajradharātmajaḥ ॥1-207-1॥

(Having narrated all that to the Brāhmaṇas, he, O Bhārata, then departed to the side of the Himalaya, the son of Vajradhara.)
O Bhārata, after telling all this to the Brāhmaṇas, the son of Vajradhara then went to the side of the Himalayas.
अगस्त्यवटमासाद्य वसिष्ठस्य च पर्वतम् । भृगुतुङ्गे च कौन्तेयः कृतवाञ्शौचमात्मनः ॥१-२०७-२॥

प्रददौ गोसहस्राणि तीर्थेष्वायतनेषु च । निवेशांश्च द्विजातिभ्यः सोऽददत्कुरुसत्तमः ॥१-२०७-३॥
pradadau gosahasrāṇi tīrtheṣvāyataneṣu ca । niveśāṃśca dvijātibhyaḥ so'dadat kurusattamaḥ ॥1-207-3॥

हिरण्यबिन्दोस्तीर्थे च स्नात्वा पुरुषसत्तमः । दृष्टवान्पर्वतश्रेष्ठं पुण्यान्यायतनानि च ॥१-२०७-४॥

(Having bathed at the holy place of Hiraṇyabindu, O best among men, (he) saw the best of mountains and the holy shrines.)
After bathing at the sacred Hiraṇyabindu, O best of men, he beheld the foremost mountain and the holy shrines.
अवतीर्य नरश्रेष्ठो ब्राह्मणैः सह भारत । प्राचीं दिशमभिप्रेप्सुर्जगाम भरतर्षभः ॥१-२०७-५॥
avatīrya naraśreṣṭho brāhmaṇaiḥ saha bhārata । prācīṃ diśam abhiprepsur jagāma bharatarṣabhaḥ ॥1-207-5॥

O best of the Kurus, he visited the holy places one after another, and saw the beautiful river filled with lotuses and the forest on the way to Naimisha.
नन्दामपरनन्दां च कौशिकीं च यशस्विनीम् । महानदीं गयां चैव गङ्गामपि च भारत ॥१-२०७-७॥
nandāmaparanandāṃ ca kauśikīṃ ca yaśasvinīm । mahānadīṃ gayāṃ caiva gaṅgāmapi ca bhārata ॥1-207-7॥

एवं सर्वाणि तीर्थानि पश्यमानस्तथाश्रमान् । आत्मनः पावनं कुर्वन्ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ वसु ॥१-२०७-८॥

(In Aṅga, Vaṅga, and Kaliṅga, whatever holy places there were, he went to all those sacred places and shrines. Having seen those according to the rules, he also gave wealth then.)
He traveled to all the holy places and shrines in Aṅga, Vaṅga, and Kaliṅga. After visiting them properly, he gave away wealth as well.
कलिङ्गराष्ट्रद्वारेषु ब्राह्मणाः पाण्डवानुगाः । अभ्यनुज्ञाय कौन्तेयमुपावर्तन्त भारत ॥१-२०७-१०॥
kaliṅgaraṣṭradvāreṣu brāhmaṇāḥ pāṇḍavānugāḥ । abhyanujñāya kaunteyamupāvartanta bhārata ॥1-207-10॥

स तु तैरभ्यनुज्ञातः कुन्तीपुत्रो धनञ्जयः । सहायैरल्पकैः शूरः प्रययौ येन सागरम् ॥१-२०७-११॥

स कलिङ्गानतिक्रम्य देशानायतनानि च । धर्म्याणि रमणीयानि प्रेक्षमाणो ययौ प्रभुः ॥१-२०७-१२॥

महेन्द्रपर्वतं दृष्ट्वा तापसैरुपशोभितम् । समुद्रतीरेण शनैर्मणलूरं जगाम ह ॥१-२०७-१३॥
mahendraparvataṃ dṛṣṭvā tāpasair upaśobhitam । samudratīreṇa śanair maṇalūraṃ jagāma ha ॥1-207-13॥

(Having seen the Mahendra mountain adorned by ascetics, (he) indeed went slowly along the seashore to Maṇalūra.)
After beholding the Mahendra mountain, which was adorned by ascetics, he slowly proceeded along the seashore to Maṇalūra.
तत्र सर्वाणि तीर्थानि पुण्यान्यायतनानि च । अभिगम्य महाबाहुरभ्यगच्छन्महीपतिम् ॥ मणलूरेश्वरं राजन्धर्मज्ञं चित्रवाहनम् ॥१-२०७-१४॥
tatra sarvāṇi tīrthāni puṇyānyāyatanāni ca । abhigamya mahābāhur abhyagacchan mahīpatim ॥ maṇalūreśvaraṃ rājandharmajñaṃ citravāhanam ॥1-207-14॥

दृष्ट्वा च तां वरारोहां चकमे चैत्रवाहिनीम् । अभिगम्य च राजानं ज्ञापयत्स्वं प्रयोजनम् ॥ तमुवाचाथ राजा स सान्त्वपूर्वमिदं वचः ॥१-२०७-१६॥
dṛṣṭvā ca tāṃ varārohāṃ cakame caitravāhinīm । abhigamya ca rājānaṃ jñāpayatsvaṃ prayojanam ॥ tamuvācātha rājā sa sāntvapūrvamidaṃ vacaḥ ॥1-207-16॥

(Having seen her of excellent form, he desired Caitravāhinī. And having approached the king, he informed his purpose. Then the king, with gentle words, spoke this speech to him.)
Upon seeing the beautiful woman, he desired Caitravāhinī. Approaching the king, he stated his purpose. Then the king gently addressed him with these words.
राजा प्रभङ्करो नाम कुले अस्मिन्बभूव ह । अपुत्रः प्रसवेनार्थी तपस्तेपे स उत्तमम् ॥१-२०७-१७॥
rājā prabhaṅkaro nāma kule asmin babhūva ha । aputraḥ prasavenārthī tapastepe sa uttamam ॥1-207-17॥
[राजा (rājā) - king; प्रभङ्करः (prabhaṅkaraḥ) - Prabhankara; नाम (nāma) - named; कुले (kule) - in the family; अस्मिन् (asmin) - in this; बभूव (babhūva) - was; ह (ha) - indeed; अपुत्रः (aputraḥ) - sonless; प्रसवेन (prasavena) - by offspring; अर्थी (arthī) - desiring; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; तेपे (tepe) - performed; सः (saḥ) - he; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - excellent;]
(King Prabhankara named, in this family, was indeed; sonless, desiring offspring, austerity performed he excellent.)

उग्रेण तपसा तेन प्रणिपातेन शङ्करः । ईश्वरस्तोषितस्तेन महादेव उमापतिः ॥१-२०७-१८॥
ugreṇa tapasā tena praṇipātena śaṅkaraḥ । īśvarastoṣitastena mahādeva umāpatiḥ ॥1-207-18॥

(By intense austerity, by that prostration, Śaṅkara, the Lord, was pleased by him—Mahādeva, the husband of Umā.)

स तस्मै भगवान्प्रादादेकैकं प्रसवं कुले । एकैकः प्रसवस्तस्माद्भवत्यस्मिन्कुले सदा ॥१-२०७-१९॥
sa tasmai bhagavān prādād ekaikam prasavam kule । ekaikaḥ prasavaḥ tasmāt bhavati asmin kule sadā ॥1-207-19॥

(He to him the venerable one gave each one offspring in the family. Each one offspring from him arises in this family always.)

तेषां कुमाराः सर्वेषां पूर्वेषां मम जज्ञिरे । कन्या तु मम जातेयं कुलस्योत्पादनी ध्रुवम् ॥१-२०७-२०॥
